View Full Version : Elvie's Sunday at the park.
The three of us went to the park and had a BBQ at the lake. You can see how Elvie enjoys his bird play carrier I converted for him. We went at a perfect time when no one was there. We had it all to ourself. This pic shows him looking at his carrots sticks as if to say, is that all I get?

One more pic of Elvie in his carrier playing with some of his hanging toys.

I love your baby carrier! Seen it before, but this is just an awesome photo of him in it! I need one for Sammy, don't you think? :agree:

Thanks Shirley, you bet I do! You won't believe how handy they come in until you make one. The seat is lined with clear plastic too. All I do is put a paper towel down on the plastic liner for easy clean up.
I also take him to school in it when we do a classroom presentation a couple times a year. It is perfect for that too.
Here is one more pic of Elvie. You can see how he keeps amused playing with his attached toys.

Thank you Dr.C.
It has worked out perfect for him when we take him places or even out in the yard. I add a new toy and switch them around to keep him enthused and happily playing. :highfive:

If you're driving alone, do you put him in the front seat or back? does he stay on the perch? If you and Al are together, does he ride in the back seat and stay perched? This is just way too cool!!!
When we drive he will perch sometimes in his travel/bird carrier in the back seat (carrier turned sideways) If I am alone with him I often put it sideways in the passenger seat facing me and he will sometimes ride there the rest of the time he is on my shoulder or right arm. If we go on a long trip he has the entire back seat to himself. I build the floor up level with the seat (using a couple small suitcases then put his blankets on top to make them level with the seat. I also
put his blankets on the seat so if he gets tired and wants to cuddle up with
them. Then he has a little more play area. I leave his travel cage door open and he can roam from his cage to his travel/play carrier when we are traveling. (which he does sometimes) He also has his corner angled swing which he loves and a lot of toys to keep him amused.
PS: I forgot to mention I buckle it up in the seat belt to secure it.

:thanx: How totally cool!!!!!!! I gotta find one for our birds...
Imagine a long van w/seats... like the kind universities use to haul students around... with a parrot carseat on each seat!!!!!
That would be awesome.... I can picture a parrot in every seat.
Now that it's summer yard sales is a great place to find them. I paid almost nothing for Elvie's. Took the cover off and washed it, scrubbed the whole seat down, tacked on a clear oblong piece of plastic covering the seat and back. I purchased a heavy grade off a bolt at the fabric store. I cut it long enough to line the seat and back both.
Shirley, here's the link I posted on how to make it. If you have any questions let me know. http://www.thebirdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2086#post2086post2086

Jean, That is soooo cute and creative! And such a lovely, clean park, too! We often have trouble with yellow jackets hanging 'round in the summer here. No fun to have to swat them away nor to get stung!
Yes, we are lucky our parks are clean and beautiful here. Once in a while you'll get a slob that leaves a mess, but that is very rare. Most people that use the park respect it. They have water right there so you can wipe off the tables and so forth. I always carry sanitary hand wipes with me so I can disinfect our table and seating area anyway.
Yellow jackets would take totally take the joy out of a park visit. Luckily we only have sea gulls coming close by because the lake is right there.
