View Full Version : Do you all keep an eye on your birds weight...
I do...
Today I decided to make a stand for the boys to use on the scales as they don`t like to go down low for some reason and its better with a stand also as their tails don`t touch the bench/table...
I bought a Mirror at a $2.00 :emot-danc shop and took the mirror off and screwed in a branch with the same screws that held the mirror ...I was quite pleased with myself...:woot:
Take a look.. They both weighed in at 110gms again tonight , stays the same most always ...:wavey:

I have "weigh day" here every Sunday morning: after morning poop but before breakfast, LOL. As an idea:
Sonny the tiel is around 91 grams
Rudy the RBToo is around 400 grams (shops in the hefty department)
Aurora the GW macaw is hard to weigh, she is not comfy on that perch, she
is around the 1150-1200 gram mark
Joey the Patagonian is 275 grams. (she surprises people, they think all the
conures are littler like Suns)
Majj, that looks like a practical scale stand.
Elvie's vet let's me come in to weigh him when ever I want to. In between times I feel his keel bone and body to be sure he is maintaining his average weight between 685 to 705 grams.

We have an avian scale - for weighing baby birds and for weighing babies who might be "in trouble" during the weaning process. I weigh handfed babies nearly every morning before their first feeding.
I weigh the big birds once in awhile, and in the a.m. after they go to the bathroom, before breakfast.
Our avian scale dbls as a great postage meter scale when set on ounces, and is absolutely accurate!

speaking of weighing birds that reminds me my scale needs a new battery and and perch...before I can weigh my guys course my military won't sit on a scale or a perch on a scale for nothing she is a bit challenging and stubborn about it everyone else cooperates..lol
JJ was a little stubbourn too but we put a wine cask (LOL) on the scales and he happily stood on that ...
