Congratulations on posting your pics!

Your birds are beautiful! And the OWL!!! Wow! what kind of an owl is it? How is it you are allowed to keep an owl? I noticed it's banded.

Thanks! (Oh, and I moved your post to Canaries and Finches since it's mainly Canaries)

my owl is called spooky she is a 3 year old barn owl i have had her since
she was 4 week old and i hand reared her to what she is now . she used to live in he house up to the age of one then i made her a big flyt in my garden it is 20 foot long and 10 foot wide with a 6x4 shed at one end this is were she sleeps . she eats lots of day old chicks and rats .its good to have a owl as you dont get mice or rats in the garden . spooky is very light and very soft . as i work at a youth club i have taken her down with me many time the kids love her (BUT NOT WHEN SHE GIVES THEM A PELLET. ) she will fly to me every time i call her name most of the time she is on my shoulder or arm .because she gets upset if she nose i am around and have not talked to her she is like a big kid . its because she has bonded to me and i have inprinted her to come to me. i love her lot and cant be with out her . in england you can keep owls or any bird right
up to a eagle as long as you have a licence. but i am not aloud to breed here if i did not that i would i would need a licence from the goverment
and it would make her wild. my A 10 is just to say that she live here with me .

I love your Owl and his story! No, you can't keep them here... you have to have a licence and it has to be a rehab situation - injury, etc.

As to your question, the Owl story you could post his pic and put it in Squawk n Talk OR Miscellanious Medley... separate from the Canaries. It's real complicated to "split" the thread, and I don't have time to do that, but if you want, you can post his pic there and then copy/paste your story again over there. It's OK to be in both places.

He's an amazing beautiful owl!!!

The owl is amazing. It is allowed to keep birds of prey here (they don't have to be rescues) and falconry displays are commonplace.

Shirley, Barn Owls are I think the most common in the UK. You often see them near fields/hedge rows at dusk, Or even in the morning. I once saw one on the way to work when I went 'the back way' which is a country road.
Many falconers (don't know if that is the correct term!!) keep barn owls, and you often see them at falconry centres.

A companion owl is unique and rare here in the US due to their restrictions. I hope you will share more information about your comapnion barn owl. He sounds so interesting.

These are good links Kristy. Thanks!
