I do all our wing-clipping.
Your bird should be able to coast to a landing, not drop too suddenly (injury).

I think I'll be leaving that up to the professionals. Looks way too complicated for me.

Be sure to go with a highly recommended person. You wouldn't believe how a few of these "bird shops" or regular non-avian vets can screw it up! And you're wise to never do anything you aren't comfortable doing or trained hands-on to do. :)
It shouldn't cost more than $8 (here in IN)
I'll do it for you in June if he needs it then. I can also show, you how even if he doesn't need it. I can show you the toweling and how to hold him and such, too, IF you want. :)
Also, I use cat claw nail scissors, not regular scissors.
