Jeff - all these were taken with the Fuji S1Pro, not the Olympus C5050. The C5050 was way easier 'til I finally figured out how to get the regular Nikon Flash to work with this camera... It's an SLR camera...

Which is your favorite composition??

OH Shirley,

They are just so cute. Kilroy is such a good momma and her babies are the BEST. They have such good color and they are the most loving birds in the whole world.

As always Shirley, your pictures are brilliant! Those babies are adorable-can you tell if they are male/female by their colors? Maybe I'll get off my Linnie & Ringneck kick (can't fit another large cage in here), and hop on the Bourke's bandwagon. I guess I'll have to fight hubby for the large open corner in the living room. He want to do fish, I want another bird(s). Anne

Thank you so much!

I can't tell sex yet, and usually people have them DNA sexed.
Males and females can be normal (blue/grey/rosy colors) and can be rosy.

Also, the males that are normal are actaully normal split to rosy. I have to do some reading to figure out if the females are split. It's a sex-linked color... and with Kilroy being rosy and the father being normal split to rosy, the babies are 50/50 chance of being normal or rosy. Color doesn't change as they get older... they remain rosy or normal, etc.

My neighbor had to have a lot of her plum tree cut down today... so I grabbed some branches and set this up in the bathroom... three of the four babies... the older normal color baby flew up high on the window so I left him there.

As always the pics are wonderful, I love the one of the 3 babies in the "tree" fast asleep, it is priceless, they are so contented, and not at all worried about the "tree" in the bathroom. :funny: They are really lovely.

Thank you!

And guess what??

Kilroy laid an Easter Egg today!!!!

egg #1 of her next clutch...
she must have those Energizer batteries inside her... She just keeps going... and Loves it!!

we won't allow a 4th clutch... although she may lay sterile eggs on the floor for a bit, then she'll quit. That's what happened last year... moved her to her "pet bird" cage and she kept laying...for just a bit, then quit.

Thank you! You should have seen the bathroom when I was finished... I should have put a sheet on the floor first. Tiny flower petals EVERYWHERE!! :funny:

Did you use a dark blue or black sheet or darken the background in photoshop? However, it's beautiful!

Shirley

I didn't photoshop anything... I hung a black (Dk Navy blue actually) sheet over the shower rod, shut the curtains on the window and turned off the light. My hope was the flash would stop at the branches and birds and go no further... It was set low so it wouldn't be too bright. :D
