Hi, I'm just learning about inserting pictures so, I'm going to probably make a mess of it before I'm done.
Here's a picture of Jack when he was a baby. His full name is PR Vicki's Jack Frost... such a big name for such a litty bitty guy, so we call him Jack for short.

Jack's a good dog. He has his moments, but for the most part, he's a sweetie. He's not yet two, so we still have to deal with his "whoopie!":emot-danc "I can do whatever I want" moments.
Your late MIL had a great name. I was named after my grandmother Vicki Marie (Marie was my grandma's name) I was supposed to be a VICTORIA, but my dad didn't know how to spell it :shrug2: so he named me VICKI instead. :agree:

Jack is gorgeous!! And now I know how to properly spell your name! (I've been adding an "e" at the end)
Jack is the prettiest cleanest white I believe I've ever seen on a dog! He has such a happy face, too!! :)

 Jack's not always so pretty and clean and white. When he gets in a mischievous mood he likes to dig. It makes for a dusty, dirty mess.
I just gave him a bath yesterday, so he's looking very pretty right now. All fluffy and white. If he's good, he can last until his bath next month. If not, into the shower we go. He doesn't mind getting a bath. He's pretty good about it actually. :agree: We've got a bathing routine down now that seems to work for the both of us.
Yep, no 'e' on the end of my name. Thanks for noticing. :goodjob:

I think the Am.Eskies are so cute. and yes they also seem to smile to. My mother inlaw had one but for reason she got very aggressive and would even snap and growl at my mother inlaw at the age of 2 it got to the point my mother inlaw was afraid of her and afraid she would bite she talked to several dog behaviourlists and Am.Eskie rescuses but they could not help and unfortunately she had to put her AmEskie down. The sibling that my mother inlaws niece bought at the same time acts the same way but worse has even bit the nieces step son and nipped at the grandchildren and refuses to do anything about it and this is behaviour that developed for no reason..another strange thing with my mother inlaws dog was from the time she was a puppy she was terrified of a leash ..if you got a leash out she would run and hide behind the couch..we think either bad breeding was involved or they were not treated right as puppies by the breeder or witnessed mom.dad or siblings being mistreated by a breeder..as I know a few people with eskies and they are are great no problems at all what so ever.
Sad to hear, My brother has one female, they got her when she wa 2 yrs old. She was terrified of strangers and skiddish for some time around them . After a lot of work she has become much better an now enjoys pettin and going for walks in the woods on her leash. She may have been abused when she was a baby, but she's never showed agression at all.

I've had dogs most of my life and Jack has proved to be the biggest challenge from a behavioral standpoint I've ever come across. My last dog was an eskie and she was the sweetest dog you ever met. Jack has felt is was the alpha dog in our family since the first day he arrived. The first year and a half took a LOT of work to get him to understand that he was not the boss. He was VERY aggressive in asserting his dominence. Only in the last year has he come to accept that he's not the boss and he has to listen EVERY time. ;)
At first I felt like a real mean cuss because he would not back down unless I "got angry" with him. Anything short of that would not work. I didn't have to mean it, but I had to make him think I meant it. I even scared Vicki sometime. I'm really surprised the neighbors didn't call the SPCA on me. LOL It must have sounded like I was the meanest dog owner in the world.
It's really nice now that he listens to me without screaming at the top of my lungs. :)
I think some of them (like Jack) still have a lot of "pack" dog in them. Once they learn that they can't get their way every time they fall into line. But until then they will stop at nothing to get you to back down.

Eskies are very territorial and not really meant to be a "family" dog. They bond with one or two people and that's it.
They're "smiling" because their mouth is rimmed with black, while their face is white. It makes them look like they're smiling. Jack has some of the craziest expressions on his face sometimes you'd think he was human. :D
Greg's right about behavior and attitude with Jack. Being a male, Jack wanted to be alpha dog in our pack: Him, Greg, then me. He wouldn't listen to me at all. But, it's taken a lot of work with him to help adjust Jack's attitude about positions in our family. He still doesn't listen to me as well as he does Greg, but we're making progress.
Our female eskie (her name was Pie, "Eskimo Pie") had the sweetest disposition ... but she did bark at anyone else who came into the house. We had to put her away when people came to the house. She accepted me right away, even though she was originally Greg's dog. She ended up having lymphoma cancer when she was 11 and died about three years ago.
They are sensitive dogs and have a tendency to bark. Jack gets nervous when it gets windy outside because it makes the back yard gate creak. He thinks someone is coming though the gate. (We have people who clean the pool and take care of the yard coming to the house on a weekly basis) Jack just "knows" when it's their day and anticipates their arrival.
But, I wouldn't trade him for the world. He's my baby. :emot-danc Speaking of which, he's insisting I take him out, so I must bow to my master. :D
