Anything we can do to make BoF a better place for you folks?

Was just wondering this, as i went over some of the older threads (just trying to keep up with who's who, and who has what) and was thinking to ask here, if anyone has ANY ideas to make Birds of a Feather a better place to visit.:scratchch

More of this? Less of that? Add this? Lose that?
After all, this board is for everyone here, and I for one would like to see everyone enjoying their time with us, and I'm sure the rest of the Admin/Mod team would agree with me.

So if anyone has any input they'd like to add here, no matter how trivial it might seem, or is very important to them,please let us know here,all contributions will be taken seriously.(remember, we ARE the friendly bird board, so we won't yell at anyone ,here or anywhere on BoF)

So let it happen, and tell us how we are doing here, good or bad.

We've reached a milestone (to us) of having 200 members before the end of the year, and we are not that far from reaching our one year anniversary in a few months, and i hopefully can speak for the rest of the "team" here,in wanting to make this board the best we can make it, for the wonderful group of members and friends we have here now, and those in the future,,,:agree:

I'd love to see a "photo album" of members added with their pics w/their birds and names so I can keep straight who is who and who has what... and where you're from -- at least what region or country. Members could add to their albums as they wish, and it would all be kept here at BoF.

Of course you can! :agree: It would be "your" album to upload to as you wish.
Sort of like this: (our sister forum, thereeftank.com has one)

You'll see categories plus each member can have one... if you click on one with a member's name, you'll be at their entire photo album of pics they've uploaded.

We could have categories like how our cages are "furnished" inside, favorite toys in action, foods, etc in addition to members' albums.

I think that photo albums would be a great idea. It would be lovely to see what other people look, their cage set ups, or even maybe their gardens and their homes. My trouble is I am just plain nosey:funny:

I know this is way off birds etc but how about a games board were you can play scrabble or one of the millions of other games there is on millions of other groups.
I know there is a place to go for Trivia Challenge competitions, maybe a Film Critic thread, Celebrity name game, just a couple or three ideas anyway

There used to be alot of live chatrooms for birds a few years back, there are only a couple left and are not worth visiting at all. It would be nice to have one here, I have always enjoyed live chats and could possibly develope scheduled bird chats for specific topics, good way to have questions asked and answered and since you have to be a member to use this place it would keep out the riff-raff. Live chats always seem more personal to me and its good to get together with like minded individuals, hope you consider one in the future. Greyman

I have been looking at other sites, I know I probably shouldn't be saying this but it realates to what Jeff was saying "we are not the biggest but we ARE the best". I have never seen anything like it, Brits having a go at Americans, Americans having a go at Brits. Well we have discussions here but we are all friendly to one another. How glad we should be that we have found THE BEST site of all.:dance:

Like Shirley said, Greg would have to be the one to set up same. Since we are running the same setup as TRT (not that that really matters) I suppose we can use/go the same route as the chat setup site as in the one we have at TRT.
Not sure if Greg is savvy for setting this up , but i' sure he can coerce someone at TRT that might know how to do that,,;)

And other than a possible conflict with those "USA" members,with those "Across the pond" and "Down under" with the time difference, i think we can probably all come to a solution for that with not much difficulty,,,,

Just catching up as usual, but I agree with everything that's been said. I feel very confident that you have a great forum here, family friendly, and informative. Best of all, we can come aboard to a comfortable atmosphere, where we can present our problems and get input from caring people whose opinions are always offered, never pushed on you. Unless, of course, it's of an immediate concern healthwise for our feathered babies. I have no suggestions so far, but the photo album idea sounds great.
Maybe Shirley can give us a lesson on how to go about it? Anne

I think the photo album is a great idea! and heck I'll admit it, I'm nosey too LOL but it can be quite inspiring to see other cages and playrooms etc.


Although I'm not a big game person myself I've noticed that a lot of the forums do have one and that people really seem to enjoy it. So I think that's a good idea too.

As everyone loves the idea of pics we are starting a new forum.."The Gallery". To start it off we are going to run a monthly subject where all members can post as many pics as they like relating to the subject of the month.


We'll give the subjects 3 months in advance to enable everyone to take related pictures if they want to.

Hopefully I'll get this up today and the first subject is Christmas, (doesn't have to be this one , any Christmas related ones are OK.)

Here we go then..

Jan... Christmas Cuties

Feb....Bathing Birdies

Mar....Outdoor Antics

If anyone has any ideas for subjects, please feel free to post.

Shirley's idea of the members and birds thread will also go in The Gallery.

Thanks Sue about the heads up (and Greg who probably set it up) for the Gallery forum. Great idea for topics of pics, but what I was wondering if we would still be able to get our own personal Members Gallery like at TRT. I really like that so people can click on the members gallery and see all of them that they uploaded and can even comment on particular pics.


I figured this was just a start, but really really like the thought of our own personal pic space ;)

And the chat room would be sooo cool too, other than always posting back and forth, cant really "talk" that way, allthough I would hope posting wouldn't slow down, hehehhee

Now here is a good idea. Jeff, and other TRT'rs .. don't you do something similar on TRT? Don't you have forums for fish clubs to chat and discuss fish and coral? Why couldn't we do something similar for the bird forum, and make it the premier place to host your bird club?
