I kept hearing our alarm on our truck, you know, the little honk to let you know you locked your vehicle? I was asking Allison, while I was getting ready if she was playing w/the remote............nope.
Well who else could be doing that?
My little stinker, Akeela :p Sounds so perfect, the faintness of the honk and everything. She had me rolling :funny: I've never heard her do this before, but guess learned it perfectly just recently, lol.
It's amazing what she can pick up on :agree:

They pick things up so quickly bless them. Makes you wonder what they will do next. I would love to hear that.
How funny! :roflmao2: Greys are notorious for mimicking sounds...:agree:
I don't know if I ever mentioned the sound the male CAG made when I was caring for him. He did a motor rumble like the sound of a motor. Every time I vacuumed he would do it and every time we took him in the car he would mimic a motor sound. :rotflmao:
Tooooo cute Barb. Those Grey's are smart and learn sounds quickly. We kept a Grey here (Nikki) for 2 1/2 months and in the first week she learned to make the sound of my Nextel 2-way peep. It was cute but drove me crazy at first. Sounded just like my phone.
Here's a pic of her. She is the sweetest, except for your Grey's of course.;)

Jim, how sweeet!!! She's adorable :D Yup Akeela did our phone ring one time that was really high pitched and not only was it a bit annoying, but so perfect that you swear it was your phone ringing, smart little buggers :p
Jean, that is funny about the motor sound, roflol, I swear these guys never cease to amaze me.
Akeela also hick-ups like my oldest daughter, hehehe

Had a friend who adopted a grey and he would make all of this mumbling noise. Come to find out, the people who owned him before had a police scanner in the next room that he'd learned to imitate.
Don't these birds just crack you up? Everytime I answer the phone, Sammie starts her own phone conversation. Kind of hard to talk.

LOL, yup luv these Greys, they keep you laughing that's for sure.
Akeela will mumble a conversation if we answer the phone, that is after she says her hello's and what are you doings, lol. Yup, is hard to talk when you are laughing and the other person on the phone is like 'what's so funny' hehehehe
She still does the honk too, but now does several in a row, it's too funny!! My little honking bird, :rotflmao:
Akeela sounds so funny with all her mimicking noises. :rotflmao:
Oh Jim, Nikki is adorable in that pic. How did the boys acccept knowing there was another bird in the house?
:thanx: for sharing.
Barb:rofl:
Jim, what a cute little thing:wub:
Nikki is a plucker as you can probably see. She's an only bird, her owner is a wonderful man but his job keeps in away from home at times for weeks. He tries hard to do the right things but as we know there are many people willing to tell you what is right. To get to the point here, up until this time he had Sharon go to his house to care for her. I would also care for her and that's when I became so attached to her.
He was against us bringing her here because his vet had told him, after our suggestion of a larger cage, that she would fear the larger cage and that's where we would house her if here. Also she would not be comfortable with our birds in the same house. With some finesse and building of trust he decided we might know what we were talking about and opted to let Nikki come her for the 2-3 months he would be gone.
After about a week of hearing the boys and seeing them outside of Sharon's office where she was she got used to them and they her. They would talk back and forth and she would say "hello", "luv you" and a lot of the things they said and sound just like them. Boy was that fun!:funny:
They all got long good and we could have them all out together. She even started flying, she is clipped so it was short flights, of her own volition. I never tossed her, she did this from what I believe was seeing the boys flying around and to us. She got to the place where she would fly back and forth to us about 4-6 ft apart.
She had pretty much stopped plucking and became very attached to me. Well the down side of all this is she is not my bird and had to go back home. I have seen her since and she again has a bald chest, legs, and is working on her tail. It breaks my heart and I just can't go see her unless it's when Sharon or one of her ladies can't make it. Last time I was there she flew off her cage to me while I was getting her food and regurgitated for me. It's at times like this I wish I didn't care so much for her because I think she enjoys seeing me but I just can't come to grips if I should go see her.:(
Got a little long here but that's the Nikki story in a nut shell.
I do Love her that's for sure.

awwww Jim, I don't blame you for feeling that way. And it must be hard to go see her and see that she wants to be with you. It would probably break both your hearts everytime. BUt on the other hand........it would be hard not to. Maybe your friend may see she loves you and his life style doesn't really permit having her if she can be fully feathered and bonded to someone??
Even if he really loves her, sometimes letting go is best when it is effecting the bird, not like you can tell him so, but maybe just maybe he can see how having a stable home can be better for her.
oh that is sooo sad. Sounds like she really liked it there at your house, but you just never know, right??

Bucc will go very quiet when the phone rings, if its for the kids or hubby he will then talk up a storm, if the phone is for me he won't say a word but will come over onto my shoulder say goodbye then cut people off. So rude lol

When I'm upstairs in my office, I used to think someone had entered the house because I would hear the door open, the alarm beeping, and then the door closing. It was spooky until I realized it was Sammie.
She has the door knock sound down pat. Faked me out at first. I'd answer the door!:roflmao2: I'm sure she got a kick out of watching me.
What did I ever do without this bird?
