I have Two Macaws

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A very entertaining Illigers Mini Macaw named Keebler who is just a hoot to be around he talks both in learned words and phrases as well as in mini macaw babble which he does alot to himself. He is cuddly, energetic, can be loud especially when he wants your attention it reminds me alot of a little kid bouncing around "look at me, look what I can do"..thats keebler as he will repeat the same thing over and over and with each time he says it he gets louder and louder he does this the most when we have company over as he loves attention everyone is just in love with him.

And then we have Gypsy My 1 year old Military Macaw she is is reserved, loves to be handled, cuddled, the top of her head kissed. She is just learning to talk right now she say Step Up, Hello, and barks like our Lhasa Apso. I love the Military Macaws after havinga chance to be around several species of Macaws I fell in love with the militaries.

You don't see Illigers that often but I got Keebler not long after I started working for the gal who raises birds she had 3 of them there and had already delivered 2 to customers..and had one left only knowing about yellow collards, hahns and severes this was a great experiance for me well I just fell in love with the little ball of feathers he will be 2 in a few months, I can say the Illigers are one of my fave mini macaws next to severes.

I got gypsy the same way..but a little different after having worked for this gal a year I had definantly fallen in love with the Military Macaws and really, really wanted one as I had always wanted a Large Macaw. So Gypsy was hatched Feb 2004 at the time she was not officially mine but I helped raise her and handfeed her since she was a week old it was not till June 2004 with my b-day coming up that I really started dropping hints to my hubby..lol and yep day before my birthday he said yes. You have no idea of the feeling of finally getting what you have wanted for so long...at first I tried for a greenwing but at the time hubby was a little nervous around large beaks but was ok with the military as they are one of the smaller large macaws.

Basically I got all my birds through the gal I work for except my Tiels and my Conures..thats the down side to working around so many birds I start making wish lists..and want to take everything home but I have also learned which ones I really really like and ones that I think are ok but not for me.
