I gave Elvie a cardboard box, put a blanket around it to make him a hut, walla, he has had fun for the last hour playing and chewing. He likes his nest.

Jean, I somehow missed this precious pic of Elvie constructing his nest! How adorable!
I posted this when we first started the board when we were all still very busy setting it up.
Here is another one of him playing in his box. I just love this one!

AH HA !!! So that's what my girl is doing in her box. Making a nest. I put a huge cardboard box on the floor and she jumped right in and starting tearing holes in it. I tossed in some toys but she tossed them back out. I put her section of the newspaper in and she started shredding it.
Some "expert" told me I shouldn't do that. "It promotes mating behaviour." Oh well... I think taking my girl up in bed with me in the morning, might do the same thing but I'm more concerned with her being happy and having fun than I am in what an "expert" thinks.
A little wisdom from one of the greatest avian vets I have ever met. When Chloe had her prolapsed chloaca, I was all distraught about my causing it from rubbing her back, rubbing under her wings, rubbing her tail feathers. Everything I read from the experts said that was all wrong and it could cause a prolapsed chloaca.
I was telling Dr. Susan Clubb about it and of course blaming myself for putting my princess through all this surgery, pain and suffering.
She turned to me and with a very stern voice said "Gary !!! Don't EVER feel guilty for loving your bird. Experts aren't always expert about anything except expressing their expert opinions."
I love that woman. I'll share my Bud Light with her anytime.

Gary, I love your stories and am SO glad to see you back here!
Yep, love your princess! And give her a box to play in! Jean even gave Elvie a hard boiled egg to take care of, and he loved it! There's pics of that somewhere he, and Elvie is just the coolest 'too! He talks long distance to Holly on the cell phone!! Holly loves it! (She's an African Grey, not a 'too, but she loves him anyway!)

Gary glad to see you around again. Chloe is such a sweet girl and Dr. Clubb is right. You should never feel guilty for loving and taking great care of her. Give her a hug from me.
