We watched this wallaby for I think 10 days. The people both worked and needed some one to watch him. He was a baby, I can't remember but I think 2 or 3 months old. Maybe some one knows more but he was still on a bottle I know that.

It was quite an experience to say the least. That pouch thing is where he needed/wanted to be, so most of the time you had to have him in it around you neck, or napping like you see me. lol

Thanks Jean, Shirley and Ginny, Well it was an experience you're right. Cute... Oh ya cute as xmas... would kisses/lick us... wanted/needed to be with you all the time. We were told this is how they are because they stay in their mothers pouch.

Okay all is well right... NOT... this thing did not want to be in his carrier except to eat a little grass like stuff once in a while. If you tried to leave him in there he would thump the sides of the carrier like a mad man. He could jump straight up in the air over top of me if I bent down to pick him up. He, like parrots, knew when I was going to put him in the carrier. Ya... try to catch a jumping jack that can jump over a kitchen table, couch, or you.... Talk about a trip.

It was fun, don't get me wrong.... but.... I don't think ever again. :shrug2:

I agree w/Ginny-That would make a great video. What did your fids think of him? Anne

Kristie - Yes he was their pet and they were talking about getting another one once they got this one under their belt. Don't know much about wallaby's but in my mind if possible I think pets enjoy each others company.

Anne - Probably would have been a cute video. Everyone would have gotten a good laugh watching me trying to catch him. The cuddle part was great but....

The boys didn't know what to think of him. First time they saw him they both took off squawking and flying around in what appeared to be trying to drive him out of their territory. He was jumping around so I held the pouch opened and he jumped in, safe I guess. They got some what used to him but I don't think it set to well with them or him. Even when all was well they just couldn't get used to the way he walked/jumped to move around. He wasn't to keen on them being in the air either.

Wow, didn't know you could keep them as pets - well I guess in the USA you can keep anything as a pet practically....

you know in this country ferrets are classed as 'unusual' pets. 'normal' (tut) people use them for catching rabbits. naturally i'm very abnormal LOL

Kristie-IMO you're not abnormal, you're UNIQUE! How's that for a description. Probably fits all of us, that's why we're here!:funny: Anne

that's true Anne.
Sadly society denotes you're weird if you don't conform to what 'they' think is 'normal'
Since I'm surrounded by people who aren't keen on animals I'm considered a little odd. But I think they're odd for not liking animals!!

that is just the cutest thing ever, I was watching a show on animal planet about a gal in australia that fosters wallabys she had all the pouches hung on the wall low enough and the joeys would just go and climb right in them all you saw was this row of 6 little faces peeking out...they can be alot of work I have always thought wallabys were just adorable right along with Koala bears

Hi Sadenna, That's just what he would do if we hung the pouch low enough or held it low. He would stay in it and not fuss - sometimes - if we hung it on a door knob. That wasn't a favorite place to be but it would give us a break. :D
