Better News Today

Talked with Adelle late last night, and things were kinda rocky..five pups with I.V. drip..but the other puppies, 12 from three other litters were all doing okay...She will keep all the exposed puppies in her house, and kennel the soon-to-be Mom's in the whelping house..It is quite large and took a flatbed semi trailer to haul it from here to her house. When we built it on skids, we thought if we ever needed to move it, the skids would make it easier..and behold it did! Swede is uncanny about seeing into the future! Anyway, it has pens for twelve females if needed...or they would do just as well for keeping weaned puppies in also..So, today she is busy setting it up..and seems much better mentally. I worry alot about her as she is prone to some quite deep depressions that are devastating for her. I think having the duties of her large kennel really will be a blessing in a way..and as most of the rest of her friends raise dogs too, we have to stay away from her house as much as we can..so the work burden is hers, and leaves little time for depression..I told her she could have a nervous breakdown next Fall, when all of this is over, and we would all go on a Cruise to heal her up! Soon as the new puppies arrive, it will be a help too, as she loves each one so very much and they will be safe from harm..Rodger, the vet, is taking care of everything for the next six months, and he is excellent..He spent most of the night watching the five sick babies, so she got some needed rest. I think his support helps her alot. He hopes to save the remaining puppies, and will get the shots to the new babies as soon as he can..They have pretty much disinfected her entire house..luckily she has laminated floors and the rugs can be shampooed...no carpeting to deal with...Rodger brought several wire pens to keep puppies separated into groups of two..to lessen the chances of more puppies getting it and have treated all the remaining healthy puppies with a couple of different things...so, maybe the worst is over..Let's pray so! I put Lili's puppies pictures on her website and maybe she will get some offers..two will go to replace two that died and were already sold..just happened to be black and white Parti puppies!
It is raining like crazy here today..the creek level is really coming up fast..guess we will be flooded in for a day or two..that has it's good side!
