Everyone is snoozing away..Grampa in his chair and the Tykes on the couch...nice fire going down there, and everyone had a big dinner...so what a good thing to do! The fids are even napping too! Just the puppies and I are awake! If I nap, then I will be up all night, and I am trying hard to cure a life-long habit of being a night owl...Before the Tykes came to live here, I would work half the night in my studio, but then could sleep late in the mornings...no school bus to catch!
I do have a new project going tho..I am making light switch and socket covers...I tried doing them in porcelain, but the shrinkage was a problem to line up the screws and switch openings etc..now I am modeling them in clay, will cast a plaster negative mold, and then cast the plates in "Hard Rock" , a kind of a plaster you patch wood with...very fine textured ...it will set up quickly and has no shrinkage..I will have to paint it with oils or acrylic..instead of the china paints, but it is just for fun, not eternity! My first set are of fairies..next will be a bird and flowers...after I do several for myself, I might do sets for next year's Xmas presents..If this process works well, there will be no limit to what can be done..kinda fun!
I finished temporaily framing my parrot stained glass window...here it is, but I ended up framing it instead of mounting it directly into a window..just hang it in the front picture window I think...will look better when the sun shines thru it messed up the photo, cut off the top green glass..but ya get the idea..
