once I got him contained safely so my husband can turn him loose when he gets home from work..I took a picture of him and started flipping through my Reptiles of Washington State book and found that he is a Southern Alligator Lizard found in Washington and Oregon

Cool, I love herps. I used to have too many, most of my friends that had a collection as big as mine paid the rent with them. I just could not let myself breed them and they ATE the rent LOL
Anyway wild herps are so neat. We have an Anole outside the front door that my 18 m/o likes to water. He will come around and display for her, she loves her "Iiizzzard":)
Glad you caught him safe and sound.

It was good the cat's didn't hurt him. He shuld love getting back out side again, I would imagine his family wonders where he is.

once I had him in the tank I checked him over visually to make sure he had no marks on him from the cats and seemed to have all his toes and limbs...so the cats did not hurt him any. But pretty cool none the less I have never had a lizard well at least not a wild one, couple weeks ago hubby found a painted turtle in the road by our house and safely placed him in the greenbelt area behind his cousins house..I had to laugh though 3 of the cats were all sitting back around the air cleaner by the computer after I had finally caught the little lizard all of them were staring at the air cleaner I guess expecting another one to come out I swear they sat by that air cleaner for a good half hour..determined little goobers..lol
