Hi islandzoo,:thanx: *gets ready to tell you all about Lori*
haha, Lori is cool... I've had him for about 2 years...
He's so full of attitude... :thumbup:But he's my lil mate...
When I bought him, he was already hand-tame, but his previous owner was elderly and couldn't keep him anymore... his loss my gain... If I knew where he was now, I'd love for him to see Lori again...
But again onto Lori... Lori was also taught a few words before I got him... But now his vocabulary has GROWN so much! If his food dish happens to be empty, he'll call out, "WANT SOME!!!"... Or if his water dish is empty it's "WANT SOME WATER!!!"... He's got the best lil personality...
The only problem with him is, he's bonded with me and only me... I'm not allowed to touch my other birds if he's out or he goes into attack mode...
I'll have to take some more photo's of the lil character... :)

G'day and welcome Emma. We're about 10 hrs drive north of you and love birds as well. We have quite a few wild Lorrikeets nearby and they are always fun to feed. The people on this site are so friendly and helpfull. Think you'll love it here. Bob.

Welcome!!!
I was wondering what a Kakariki is too! Also, your Cockatiel looks just like Tucker! What color do you call him? If you view the 'tiel forum and go back a few weeks in the archives, you'll see lots of Tucker photos... Also some in Squawk and Talk.
Welcome aboard!!

A kakariki is a new zealand grass parrot...
With the personality of a lorikeet...but without the mess... I've only had "noname" for about a week and a half so far...
He/She isn't tame, but is only a baby, so I'm working on getting him (I'll go with him for now) used to being handled...
When I have him out of the cage, he's always on the go!! Like he doesn't sit still... Not a very "cuddly" bird.. but cute personality...

I had 3 female kakarikis a couple years ago. One of them, who I named "Kiwi" after her favorite fruit, would sleep on the nightstand beside my bed and loved to take showers w/ me. it was actually kinda funny. she would start up on the shower rod, move to the showerhead, then finally end up splashing away at the bottom of the tub near the drain.
She also was VERY posessive. My girlfriend bought her for me as a birthday gift, but if Kiwi was out of her cage and my GF hugged me or got too close, she would arch up her little wings and charge, growling all the way. she was my all time favorite bird.
