View Full Version : TRACE ...Patricia Cornwell
Picked up her latest book , but who knows when I`ll start it been too tired of a night to read more than 30mins before my eyes are closing , but its nice to know I have a book sitting on the bedside table ready to start when I do feel like it ...:woot: I love to read ....:wavey:
I am sure it will be good like her others. Happy reading! I hope you can catch up on some rest too.

Majj, I have TRACE sitting here waiting for me to read it as well. Maybe we should read it together?

How are her books?? I'm a Clive Cussler fan (among others, but he's my favorite). Always looking for a new author who has plenty of material. Like to read in the hammock on a nice day, and sometimes I can finish a good book in one day. That is, of course, if my husband & Erin are out on the bike and I get the day all to myself. Does she do Law & Order type stuff, spies, medical, what genre is her forte (like those fancy words) ?? Thanks for your input-Anne

Her main character is Kay Scarpetta. Scarpetta is a forensics medical examiner. So, I guess you could say medical procedurals is the genre. Here's a list of all her Scarpetta books.

I've started TRACE and am a little taken aback at how it starts. All the characters are angry and belligerent. I'm trying to read through it and hoping that someone ends up in a good mood eventually.
Majj, Have you started TRACE yet?
Vicki,
I finished it and I was a little dissapointed in both that and Blow fly the one before , it didn`t seem up to her usual standard to me , but I still did enjoy them ...
Like to know what you think after reading it , maybe it was just me....

Majj. I finished TRACE last night. I was a little disappointed in the ending. Not up to Cornwell's usual flair. It seemed kind of hurriedly written; not a lot of detail. The whole book had a very negative attitude about it. To me, it seemed like most every character was angry or upset throughout the book. Of course, Cornwell's book plots aren't about happy sunshine times, she does write about death and violence, but it just seemed like the characters were in an angry mood throughout the story.
I also felt like there was too little development about the communication between Scarpetta, Lucy and Benton. They all just seemed to "know" stuff about what was happening but how did they know? When did they have time to talk? Doubtful they would leave detailed messages about current situations when they're so paranoid about talking on the telephone anyway. Cornwell didn't show any connection between them to let me understand how they would be aware of what was happening between Virginia, Florida, and Colorado.
Well I am glad it wasn`t me who thought it wasn`t up to the usual..but as I said I still enjoyed it and will look forward to the next one ...
No reading in bed tonight its after 1am time to snooze...Chat tomorrow Goodnight from Down under..

Same here. I still enjoy reading her books. She has an unusual way of writing, using present tense.
Her next book is Predator http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0399152830/qid=1122737102/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_sbs_1/002-5034317-9697669?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
