My little boy Oscar passed away this past Sunday 1-10-10 around 10 am. We think that he suffered a stroke which caused internal bleeding. His death was quick, and I am hoping with little pain. We brought him to the vets office for cremation and I will decide what to do with his remains at a later time. My heart breaks. I will miss him so much, he was my protector, my friend, and my companion. :(:(:bawling:

Oh no:( I am so sorry for your loss. It doesn't seem like he was that old? Or maybe time just flies... it is just awful, I too know the devastation. I send my condolences to you and your entire family. :tighthug:

Your conure is adorable! I went to a wonderful bird place this past tuesday because I needed to play with little birdies. I was shown beautiful little baby Caiques they were 6 weeks old and being handfed. They had just arrived there and we were the first people to see them. Well what could be a long story - shortened - we decided that I am going to have one. I chose the little girl, and she will be coming home in about 6 weeks or so when she is fully weened. We thought about a few names, and I am a Harry Potter fan so we tried Nymphadora or Tonks and she screamed her little head off. So when I go back to visit her, I am going to try Tinkerbell to see if she likes that. I would like feedback on the name, or any suggestions if it doesn't suit her.

Oh no! :cryingpup I feel so sorry for you and your family. :tighthug: I know how difficult it is to lose a bird. They are our little feathered kids. You will always remember the love and good times you've shared.

I know how difficult such a loss is. I lost my first bird 17 years ago. I only had one bird and missed her so much I knew had to get another. That's when we adopted Elvie.

I hope each day is a little brighter. :grouphug:

I went last Monday to the vets office to pick up Oscars remains. The place that cremated him did a beautiful job with return presentation. We were unsure of why it cost so much due to the fact of how small he was, but what I got explained it to me. We got a carved solid wooden box with a slide out bottom, an engraved name plate that can be affixed to the box, a certificate indicating when, where and by whom the cremation took place, along with a copy of the Rainbow Bridge. What we decided to do was add a few of the feathers that we had around the house that were his, and then seal the box with wood glue so that no accidents could happen. We did affix the name plate, and now he is sitting on top of our shelf alongside one of our Saint Francis statues. He was a my little man, and I miss him terribly, but it does seem to be easier now that he is home. Is this weird?

Sure seems normal to me. I've been there, I'm sure that most of us have at one time or another with our precious babies. So glad that he is home for good.

I'm so sorry to hear that. May Oscar rest in peace. I also have a dying African Grey, I never seen him outside of his nest box for a day now. Does anyone have an idea what he's doing inside. The last time I saw him is, his taking out his feathers one by one.

Thanks,
Carmel

Hi All,

It's nice getting back here. Well, I brought you a good news. My Congo AG is now doing well. Still messy! Anyway, he's back with his daily routine. Not much for this time, I'll keep you posted about his behavioral development. By the way, he is turning 2 years of age.
